Kennesaw, Georgia, USA

Job purpose

You must be an Atlanta area industrial sales veteran who has demonstrated the ability to consistently exceed quota, successfully manage a global team of field and inside sales, and oversee sales admin and operations. You still love the game, the grind, the tactics and strategy, the people, and winning, but you’re tired of the daily travel.

We want you to own sales operations as the operations partner to our VP of Sales.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be a proven leader, detail-oriented manager, team player, innovative thinker, creative strategist, and skilled in execution detail and tactics. They’ll be a proven industrial sales winner with demonstrated grit and perseverance.

You likely have years of experience in a world-class industrial company. You understand the need for processes and systems but are frustrated by bureaucracy and yearn for the opportunity to make an impact in a small, agile company.

You’ll be able to operate independently with minimal supervision and demonstrate strong executive presence, effective communication, and a refined understanding of how to empower your boss with a flow of material information without bogging him down with unnecessary detail. You’ll instinctively understand when to seek guidance and how to make him, the sales team, and the organization optimally effective.

You should have a Bachelor’s degree (technical and engineering disciplines are a plus) and at least five years of sales, sales operations, or sales finance experience. You’ll be conversant in business, accountable and detail-oriented, have strong analytical skills, and have experience in CRM or ERP use.

You will have responsibility for leading and developing the following:

  • Sales Process, Methodology, Playbooks, Enablement, Deal Scorecards, and Competitive Intelligence – Document and improve sales process and tools that will help the VP achieve growth goals, make the team more effective, improve predictability, identify and suggest training opportunities, coordinate with marketing for enablement tools, and deliver world-class customer experience.
  • Sales Technology and Data – Drive optimization and data quality of CRM, Power BI, and our data sources, including data integrity and hygiene, customization to improve usefulness and ease of use, system usage and adoption, technology familiarization and training for team members, system and process documentation, dashboard/workflow/automation development, and continuous research to identify additional tools we should consider.
  • Reporting and Forecasting – Optimize tools and improve processes to ensure that pipelines are properly managed and forecasts are accurate and reliable for financial and operational planning.
  • Target Accounts – Collaborate with marketing to define our Ideal Customer Profile and matching accounts, and develop playbooks to optimize sales execution.
  • Inside Operational Support for Sales: Eliminate barriers, create and document processes, and support the team with account and opportunity planning, coaching, and role-playing when the VP and Sales Directors are unavailable.
  • Pricing – Lead the pricing process in close collaboration with Product Management and Finance
  • Territory Management – Collaborate with the executive team to create and realign territories and establish sales quotas.
  • Compensation – Advise the VP of Sales and executive team on compensation best practices to incentivize and reward top sales performance, conduct financial modeling of any proposed compensation changes, review and manage expense reporting.
  • Representative of the VP of Sales – Represent the VP of Sales in key 3rd party, vendor, process, or cross-functional meetings as requested and appropriate
  • Interdepartmental Coordination – Voice of the customer and of the sales team in relentless pursuit of operational excellence. This includes facilitating special pricing, shipping, and production requirements, coordinating with marketing operations, and cultivating mutual collaboration with all departments and colleagues on behalf of the sales team.
  • Planning and Special Projects – Conduct financial modeling and support planning for new market opportunities and special projects, manage the annual budgeting process with the VP, and identify ad hoc opportunities for growth.
