Job purpose

The Application Engineer is the technical champion for internal and external customers. This position works closely with the Sales teams to support customers with their sanitary pumping needs and resolve technical issues. The Application Engineer is responsible for selecting, quoting, troubleshooting, and promoting the organization’s sanitary pumps and fluid management products to both domestic and international sales channels. The primary responsibilities of this position are to support the internal and external Sales team with customer interfacing.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Supports Customers’ Technical and Product Needs

  • Resolves customers’ technical issues
  • Assists customers with their technical pump needs
  • Prepares product quotes to assist OEMs, end users, and/or distributors
  • Provides technical equipment proposals and quotes for projects and customer inquiries
  • Participates in companywide continuous improvement and similar quality efforts to support the growth of the organization and to meet the needs of customers
  • Provide technical support to customers related to pumps and accessories

Identifies Appropriate Products and Criteria

  • Sizes and selects the appropriate application products from the product line, including pumps, pump accessories, valves, strainers, sight glasses, bubble traps, oil coolers, pump replacement, and spare parts.
  • Interacts with the original equipment manufacturer (OEM), distributor and/or end user to identify key pump selection criteria.
  • Identifies key product applications, product features and new potential applications.
  • Determines major market area of end user or the distributor pump application.
  • Identifies major competitors’ products and their Unibloc equivalents.
  • Performs design selections for various applications and specifications.

Collaborates with the Internal and External Sales Team

  • Provides technical support for the Sales team.
  • Partners with the Sales team to meet customers’ needs.
  • Troubleshoots challenging operational technical and product issues.
  • Assists Sales, Marketing and Engineering to develop and conduct product training programs.
  • Responds to technical and product questions from the Sales team and customers.
  • Performs other responsibilities as assigned.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience, Education, and Certifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • Mechanical engineering experience and/or degree
  • 2 years of relevant experience, preferably in Application Engineering
  • Experience in manufacturing and/or equipment industry
  • Experience in solving customer issues by providing appropriate technical and product recommendations
  • Technical product sales experience
  • Mechanical and electrical aptitude or training
  • ERP system experience

Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong customer service skills with courteous, clear, thorough and accurate communication

Reports To VP of Sales

Job purpose

While working with an existing direct customer base, the focus will be on developing effective strategies to cultivate growth for Unibloc Hygienic Technologies sales and increased market share, in assigned region or geography.  You will play a key role driving retention of existing business and acquisition of new business across the region.  Responsible for managing existing channel partners, direct customers and establishing long lasting relationships to grow revenue. Identify and engage potential channel partners, leveraging market and competitor data to attract new customers.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Responsible for achieving or exceeding annual sales and orders growth for the region in line with business revenue growth objectives
  • Achieving and exceeding agreed sales targets for pumps, spare parts, and associated equipment across a range of hygienic industries, including food and beverage, pharmaceutical, and cosmetics. There are also some chemical applications.
  • Collaborate with the VP of Sales to develop channel sales strategies, key account plans, and relationships to deliver assigned growth tactics for region.
  • Establish and adhere to an annual growth plan aligned with business growth strategies.
  • Support existing direct customer base while actively looking to engage new channel partners who would be able to assist in growing the customer base.
  • Support channel partners by providing product specifications, applications knowledge, pricing, and any other required information to assist in the development of stated business goals. This includes, but is not limited to, delivering technical and commercial quotations for their end markets.
  • Develop account plans with annual goals, objectives, and quotas to support fulfillment of Unibloc’s growth strategies.
  • Identify gaps in regional coverage, prioritize and engage new channel partners to fill gaps as well as onboarding of such partners and ultimately driving their growth.
  • Vigorously promote the Unibloc Hygienic Technologies brands across the region.
  • The business is currently 70% direct / 30% distribution.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, engineering degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 7+ years of industrial product outside sales experience or distributor management within the food & beverage or other sanitary markets.
  • Experience selling, specifying, or servicing pumps with progressive cavity pump experience preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation, persuasion, relationship management, and negotiating skills.
  • Can be productive with minimal supervision – self-starter.
  • Has the ability to learn quickly and advance upon what has been has been learned.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to use computers and software programs including MS Office Suite.
  • Experience with CRM and ERP software.
  • Significant travel is required.

JOB PURPOSE

The Pump Technician builds pumps according to customer specifications and timelines. This position identifies and resolves issues that arise while building and testing pumps. This position identifies and resolves issues while building and testing pumps. The primary responsibilities of this position are to build quality pumps in a timely manner and to maintain a safe working environment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Test and Build Pumps
  • Completes pump builds according to the Work Order and Bill of Material in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Identifies parts required for each order against the Bill of Material.
  • Checks the measurements of the pump and parts for accuracy.
  • Grinds the rotor housing.
  • Tests pump against customer specifications.
  • Updates Production Supervisor or Production Manager of pump and equipment status on an ongoing basis.
  • Updates Production Supervisor or Production Manager if scheduled delivery cannot be followed and requests resources and/or assistance needed to stay on schedule.
  • Cleans pumps after the build and prior to shipping to the customer.
Troubleshoot and Adhere to Quality Control Requirements
  • Follows procedures to ensure performed services adhere to the customers’ specifications.
  • Identifies and solves issues that arise while building pumps.
  • Advises Production Supervisor of tools required or suggested enhancements to optimize work.
  • Collaborates with Production Supervisor and Production Manager to convert used parts into usable parts for new and/or replacement pumps.
Maintain a Safe Working Environment
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area that is free from debris.
  • Wears proper clothing and personal protective equipment, as necessary (i.e., pump and motor assemblies, etc.).
  • Inspects build equipment regularly.
  • Adheres to all safety guidelines.

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. is required, Associates Degree or higher preferred.

  • Basic computer skills, including MS Office, and ability to learn different transaction processes using ERP system.
