Pump Flavorings For Toothpaste Production
When an international toothpaste manufacturer needed to expand and upgrade their toothpaste flavour dosing system they turned to Flotronic Pumps.
Due to increasing customer choice the number of flavours had steadily risen and the existing system could not cope. Now with eight 1½" 710 Series Stainless Steel air operated double diaphragm pumps from FPL the right flavour can be readily dispensed by PLC control from the production area on the floor above.
A global player serving 6 billion people worldwide hold the number one position in the world for toothpaste.
The Flotronic diaphragm pumps are ideally suited due to their compact design and being manufactured from 316 Stainless Steel with virgin PTFE / Teflon diaphragms; each pump is also fitted with the unique FPL guardian rupture protection system, a secondary back-up diaphragm behind each working diaphragm, creating an intermediate safety chamber.
Should the working diaphragm rupture, these protect the pump air system from damage and contain the liquid within the pump. Pressure switches are then attached to the safety chamber and connected to the PLC control so in the event of a diaphragm rupture the pump can be isolated.
The flavours are sucked from drums with a lift of 1.8 metres and then pumped to the Dental Cream production floor above with a head of approx. 10 metres.
Flotronic pumps have been in service for over four years and have been found to be reliable and easy to maintain.
